Decreased production efficiency 5. Emergency staffing 6. Increased maintenance
work 7. Releases to the environment 8. Increased incident reports and
investigations anticipate identified hazards and manage them automatically but
not everything can be automated. Technicians running complex processes are
much better trained than their predecessors a generation ago. They regularly
encounter small technical problems on their units, and in most cases, they
resolve the problems ...

Probes are used by process technicians to check inboard and outboard radial
and thrust bearings. Excessive vibration could indicate failing bearings or internal
problems. There are two types of vibration: radial vibration and axial movement.
Radial vibration increases when the turbine surges or after a cold start when the
machinery passes through critical speed. Surging also can affect axial movement
in the rotor. Higher bearing temperatures will accompany any of these problems.

For reasons discussed within the text, CMOS (complementary metal-
oxidesemiconductor) technology plays a leading role in present and future
electronic systems. In choosing appropriate material for this monograph, we
specified two selection criteria. First, we sought topics of primary importance to
the present and future state of the art of CMOS process technology. Second,
where constraints of space and time imposed on the number of topics to cover,
we focused on issues with the ...

The European Workshop on Software Process Technology celebrates its 10th
anniversary in the year 2000. The goal of the workshop is to assemble
researchers and practitioners in the area of Software Process Technology. Issues
such as process modeling, process enactment, and process improvement are
central, as are empirical studies of such technology. We are happy that at EWSPT
'7 about 40% of the papers reported on practical experiences. This workshop
series has, ...
